But, as a classically trained pianist, I was never encouraged by my teachers to play by ear. So, I stuck to the program and never really grew my playing by ear skills.

That's when I joined as many rock and pop bands as would have me, and spent most weekends playing solo piano for special events. I was having so much fun!
